Smiley bowl won't just enhance the mood in the room, it also lends style to serving snacks and other titbits. The big smiling bowl both looks good and is highly functional. For example, you can use the top of the bowl for empty nutshells when serving pistachios, or wrappers when the bowl's mouth is full of sweets.

Here comes the weekend

And with it, a few errands to run, a few advances on home projects and also some leisure time with my favorite one. Everything is simply better when He is around...
Have a wonderful weekend!!

Jackie Kennedy Onassis, a little bit like us?

She used to carry her own footstools. I love this photo of Jackie, while doing such a quotidien act yet she looks so elegant and classic as always.

David Collins London Flat

Ever since I saw the images of David Collins' London apartment at House and Garden I was smitten. The subtle palette of lilacs, blues, greens and pink seem to work together in a very sophisticated way. I would expect the very light colors when mixed with chrome and glass to look cold but surprisingly this apartment looks warm and inviting.

Chanel by Jean Leymarie

image from Chanel apartment
I'm a lover of biographies and it's a double interest when the story is about someone who also happens to be one of my idols. We all love Chanel for her creativity and undeniable influence in the Haute Couture world, but in the new reissue of Jean Leymarie's 1987 Chanel book we can get to know about how Chanel contributed to the international arts scene by creating costumes for actual production and how sometimes she was a patron to not-so-fortunate directors. It was quite difficult to get a hand on the first edition, but now it’s available again, published by "Abrams" in the US. I already bought my copy and I can't wait to read about how and by whom Chanel was influenced and how she mingled with some of the greatest artists of her time. You can purchase the book here.

Lauren Santo Domingo at Home

We can finally get to see a little bit of Lauren Santo Domingo's chic abode. Lauren has been showing us marvelous interiors in her section called APT with LSD at so I was happy to find images in my mailbox of the apartment she shares with her husband Andres Santo Domingo. Their home is a mix of retro and global chic and judging from the little sneak peek of her closet/office it seems it could be one very fabulous. But then again, It's Lauren Santo Domingo so that should be expected.

The TV room, above, will soon be a nursery when Lauren and her husband welcome their first baby in Spring. To see more of her apartment go here.

Our weekend visitors

I wanted to share with you what a cold but great weekend we had here at home. Over the weekend we invited to dinner a few friends we didn't get to see during Christmas. I wanted to create a cozier atmosphere and dine under candle light so I moved the dining table close to the open fire in front of my gorgeous bookcase. Did I ever say bookcases are one of my favorite things? I used a generous remnants of Edo fabric by quadrille as tablecloth, took out a few of my amethyst candle holders and got some hydrangeas at Whole Foods. The Capiz Shell placemats are from Crate and Barrel and they are really beautiful. We had a wonderful time in good company and hope we get to do this more often.
