Contemporary Kitchen Decoration Ideas

These kitchen decoration were designed by Australian kitchen designer . The kitchen was situated in the main living area on the second floor. This was a large open plan area that housed the kitchen, dining and lounge with large sliding doors leading onto a decked area which captured the astounding views. As this was their only entertaining area the kitchen not only had to be functional but also become art work within its own right as the rest of this area was to be simply dressed.

From Designer :

When I consulted with the clients they expressed particular interest in the look of light timber cabinetry, as they had already chosen dark timber floors they felt a lighter colour would complement. Other than this specification I was given creative license. The only challenge I faced was with my desire to place the gas hob and sink in the island to enable the clients to feel part of the room when entertaining and also take in their views. This meant I had to duct the range hood between the second and third floor, to overcame the problem of the amount and distance of ducting required, I placed a second motor half way along the span which ensured optimal power. To cover the power pack motor in the range hood, I designed a pure white coloured glass surround, with LED lighting inside to add another dimension.

I also used the same coloured glass for the splash back and overhead doors to give the sense of continuity from the range hood to the back of the kitchen. The back wall featured high cabinets with push catch doors in a light veneer that was gloss lacquered. I designed the island to feature polished stainless top, which was carried through to the back wall bench top. At the end of the island I placed an oak timber slab over and under the stainless steel, which gave the effect the stainless cut right thought the timber. Which provided the perfect place to enjoy a coffee in the morning. LED lighting was used extensively around the front of the island and back wall to create the perfect ambience. The end result was a modern contemporary kitchen which is not only stunning during the day, but breathtaking in the evening.

Modern Beach House Design of Pontoporia´s House

have designed beach house design of Pontoporia´s House is located next to a cliff in a very peculiar spot in the Argentinean coast. Pontoporia is the scientific name of the Plata dolphin, species that can be seen from the house. In terms of construction, the designer used regional materials and complied with local building techniques. Discarded wood work has been reused as furniture and coverings. Windows and openings were designed according to parameters of the severe weather and double glazing was used. The heating of the interior is placed in the ground floor and is distributed upstairs by convection using the stairs as vent.

The project starts from the relationship between a clear geometrical shape –like an artificial rock on the ground- and the irregular landscape on which it is built. The cube resembles the geological formations of the area. The house opens progressively to the sea from the ground floor to the upper floors, thus the connection with the exterior in some spaces is more restrained (as in ground floor) and then the house opens up in the upper floors. Interior inhabitation is privileged as a shelter in a severe climate, seeking to protect the inhabitants from the steady wind.

The interior spatiality is generated from simple geometric shapes that with complex operations produce different opening degrees to the wind, the sights, the sun and the activities. The bedrooms and a common area are placed in the ground floor, while social areas such as dining room, living room and kitchen are placed on the upper floor. There is also a terraced garden-roof with different levels that generate varied spatial situations both from the inside and in the outside and also allow the entry of sunlight needed in cold seasons. This relationship between the upper level and the terraced roof allows the creation of a special connection with the sea and to generate a higher social level that reinforces the implantation strategy of the house.

Your majesty

I never get tired of graphic modern art. Even the most traditional space can be revived and brought to up-to-date with a touch of modern art. Silhouettes have been around for centuries and they still seduce us. Here are a few fashionable uses:

Got no green thumb

It's time to spend more time outside and enjoy the "God blessed weather." But first I have to accommodate our deck in order to do that. Of course my dream of a flowery outdoor space has literally gone with the wind. Our deck is too windy for the delicate nature of flowering plants. So I'm looking into stronger plants that require less physical effort as well. Remember these Domino images? I can't overload our deck with anything like this but it's a great point of departure for inspiration.
